Newport: Investing in our Waterfront DREDGING. This winter, Newport completed a $475,000 dredging project to remove 10,000 cubic yards of silt from the north easternmost corner of the inner harbor. The dredged material was collected on a 140' scow, and transported up to the Providence Harbor contained aquatic disposal (CAD) site. This area will now be navigable, with a uniform depth of 9 feet, enabling the installation of new piers and docks at Perrotti Park this Spring and setting the stage for future expansion along Long Wharf.
